The Salton Sea, California In Jeopardy

This place is in trouble, big trouble.

Increased salinity due to agricultural runoff and lack of an outflow has the Salton Sea, California unable to sustain most fish except Tilapia. Although birds have been migrating the Pacific Flyway to this fishy stopover for generations, will they have to look elsewhere for their feeding frenzy? The trouble is, there is no place like it nearby and stopping in at this fish feed resort has become a habit over the years. Man’s mistake is the reason it exists in the first place so the argument that it shouldn’t exist anyway has merit. Oh, complications get in the way of a good fish feed again. “Saving The Salton Sea” has been an agenda item for local and national political and conservation organizations since the mid 50’s, meanwhile the salinity keeps rising, now past that of ocean water. What is a birdie, who has been winter vacationing here for a century, to do?
