Mongolian Wrestling – Meet The Judges

Mongolian Wrestling – The Judges

Most judges take their position seriously and the judges for Nadaam, (Mongolia’s national games) wrestling competitions are no exception. They are experts in the game of wrestling, Mongolian wrestling, that is, and wrestling is tops during Nadaam in July.

Similar to most wrestling worldwide, but unique in that there is no weight category, the more larded up these boys are, the better the chance of winning.  Judges, being former wrestlers themselves, tend to retain the physique of the former wrestling days, as you can see. Decked out in traditional costumes from tip to tip, they command respect and deference. Given their past achievements, you don’t want any confrontations from these former champs.
